The best political rap albums to bump today

Yo, this post is going to be brief.

Today is going to be frantic, stressful and high strung for many eagerly waiting to see what's going to happen tonight. Go out, go vote, be a part of the conversation or don't be a part of it all. I'm going to be out at the polls not only as a voter but as a journalist covering it.

In light of that, here are five political albums to bump to get you through the day.

RUN THE JEWELS 2 - Run The Jewels

Rap's loudest political voices right now, their second album features fiery verses, intense drums and punchlines that will put your favorite rapper to shame. The perfect political pump up album.

HEADSHOTS! - Angry Blackmen

One of the best underground political rap albums of 2020. This band's energy is raw, intense and as I've noted before, an absolute punch to the face. It's a reflection of what the past four years have been like, especially if you're black in America.

THE SHARECROPPER'S DAUGHTER - Sa Roc

From her bandcamp page:

“The Sharecropper’s Daughter speaks to my father’s actual beginnings on a Virginia tobacco farm where his family sharecropped. The title is meant to signify that both my father’s and my upbringing, though so different, are linked by a shared history that informs the way I move through the world. Although his formative years were spent in the Jim Crow era of the south, where he suffered through poverty and racial oppression, and mine were shaped in the heart of DC, amidst the war on drugs and the effects of its fallout, the album finds points of connection in two very different yet tragically familiar stories of Blackness in America. It’s a sonic reflection of the things we inherit. About the emotional weight that we unknowingly bestow upon the next generation; the genetic transfer of both trauma and triumph that we, both donors and beneficiaries, are tasked with reshaping into a future of our own.”

With features like Black Thought and Papoose - this album speaks volumes about how not much has changed for blacks in America. Sure the chains have been removed but that doesn't mean the field posts haven't been moved further.

I also wanted to add this: the winner of this election WILL NOT be decided tonight.

This is because of the massive number of mail in ballots. It is expected that Trump will have an early lead because a majority of republicans will vote in person while a majority of Democrats will be voting by mail.

DO NOT believe the hype on social media. Counting ballots will take time.
