The best rap songs to bump this season

Tis' the season motherfuckers.

Despite the fact that countless rap artists have made songs about the holidays, it still feels like rap and Xmas don't mix well. In some cases that would be right: take DMX singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer which sounds like an SNL skit. Sometimes though, it's like milk and cookies and I don't know why more rappers haven't made a xmas song - I would love a Tech N9ne/Hopsin remix of Little Drummer Boy

So with that in mind, here are some of the best rap songs about the happiest season:

Holiday - Lil Nas X

If you're surprised that this song is at the top of the list - get your head out of those rosy cheeks. This song is a certified bop and I will not feel bad for making this the number one song of the season. Get over yourself and enjoy the season lol.

Big Bag - Tyler the Creator

I will be honest, I haven't watched the movie nor will I ever watch the movie. After the the live action one with Jim Carrey, The Grinch was not a movie we needed a remake of. However I did ...also not listen to the sound track for a while.

This year, I broke and talk about the music being better than the movie. Tyler The Creator absolutely kills it and this song is a standout because it fits the theme of The Grinch while also not being super Christmasy which is a huge accomplishment.

Christmas in Hollis - Run DMC

This was the first song that came to mind when I decided I wanted to put this list together (save for Holiday). Legendary rap duo Run DMC set the standard for Christmas rap songs with this cut which was released in 1987 - you could say they were ahead of their time.

Baddie on My Wish List - Fivio Foreign

The newest addition to the rap Christmas song collection. This was released as part of Apple's holiday remix playlist and out of the entire offering - this is one of the best songs on it. It samples the Twelve Days of Christmas and features Foreign just having fun. A ton of rap songs have crumbled under the weight of mixing holiday themes while maintaining the artist's identity. I don't think that's the case here.

"On the first day of Christmas, I put a baddie on my wishlist." - Foreign

Jingle Bales - Gucci Mane

If you were to tell me that Gucci Mane of all people was gonna release a Christmas Album, I would have slapped the hell out of you. Somehow but not shockingly, Mane brought the holiday into the trap and it doesn't suck at all. This proves that Mane is in fact a rap god and should be respected as such.

Nothing for Christmas - Rae Sremmurd

Not everyone can be good during the holidays, Rae Sremmurd has you covered. For when your significant other or loved ones are acting out, this song the perfect way to tell them they're fucking up for Christmas.

Ludacrismas - Ludacris

One of the only songs on this list I can honestly say I would listen to in the summer. This song was released while he was at the absolute top of his game and it's easy to see why. A funked out southern remix of a Christmas song and Luda's trademark delivery and punchlines. It's amazing.

Christmas in Harlem - Kanye West and others

This song has been a certified Xmas classic since it was released 10 years ago. Everything about this screams that the holidays have taken over - from the beat to the lyrics about Christmas and even the hook. It's the kind of song that puts you in a good mood and get's you ready to spend time with the family.

Kanye is still a wanker though.

Baby it's Cold Outside - Mac Miller and Ariana Grande

Easily one of the sleeper Xmas rap hits of the last ten years. Of course, this is a cover of a questionable song but for whatever reason this is my favorite song of the season. The main reason for this is because of renditions like this one.

You can't tell me that you don't feel a little bit more zen after listening to this song on a cold, snowy night.

RIP Mac Miller.

Happy Holidays ya filthy animals,

Lux
