Sa-Roc is a lyricist you need to be talking about


Let me tell you something, Mondays are the fucking worst. They're even worse if you're waking up from a night of pounding down an entire case of beer after watching the Browns almost blow a 20 point lead. In the interest of trying to pick you up while also getting your mind right for the week, here's "The Sharecropper's Daughter," by Sa-Roc.

Hailing from D.C., the Ryhmesayers artist's fierce lyrics over a mix of chill and gritty boom bap may cause pain in the neck from you bobbing your head. This isn't an album with extravagant lyrics, this is an album about how white America has treated minorities but if you like slick lyrics with thought, this album is for you. Not to mention she has Black Thought, Styles P and Chornixx as guest artists.

“I am the wildest dreams of rebels and kings,” - This lyric By Roc alone on the first track gets my blood going. 

I accidentally downloaded this album while trying to listen to a project by Lilbootycall (dead ass, that's his name) and I am extremely excited I did. In a media dominated by Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Rico Nasty - Sa-Roc is carving out her own space and killing it.

Uncut: An interview with Russ Hall, Cleveland's next poet

  Today, Cleveland rapper Russ Hall released his fifth album, “Beautiful,” to the masses. After listening to it for a few hours, I have to say this album is sharp. The project features eight songs with guest verses from other local artists like Tell a Tale Vell, Jah Rashid and Sumrr. It was produced by  Epik The Dawn, Ismael Jam, Lebanon Don Beats, BEATSINMYBACKPACK, Juno, Blutop and YSP.
